Max has been successively called a Pop Icon, Neo Fauvist, Abstract Expressionist and the United States “Painter Laureate.”
The artist has had the distinct honor of painting the last seven Presidents of the United States and the world’s best-loved celebrities, among them the young sensation Taylor Swift.

The Artist has assembled a collection of his greatest and most-revered imagery spanning four decades:
From his iconic Pop Art designs commemorating Woodstock to the 2013 unveiling of Max’s design for the cruise ship Breakaway and the 2016 exquisite Masters series.

This new exhibition speaks to the evolution and maturation of America’s most popular living Artist.

Max’s Art Students League scholarly influence inspired all of his extraordinary artwork, and of late, his new Masters series; his interpretive works of Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, Pablo Picasso, Renoir, and Edgar Degas, conceived in Max’s signature style and colors.

These works speak to both a maturation of the artist’s illustrious career, as well as to his formidable training at the 130-year-old Art Students League of New York.

Important pieces of the Retrospective Collection and the Masters Series will be available for acquisition in the Naples presentation.

Meet Alexei Butirskiy at Key West Gallery

12/05/2016 0 Comments

Key West Gallery will host the number one artist in all of Europe, Alexei Butirskiy, and a newly curated collection of his original paintings and limited edition works December 9- 10, 2016.

Butirskiy will paint live in the gallery while he is in Key West so visitors will be able to witness how he builds one of his masterpieces from a blank canvas. Collectors will also have the opportunity to have Alexei personalize and embellish all new purchases.

city of love 16 10, 12/11/12, 12:21 PM, 8C, 7418x10265 (25+169), 100%, Default Settin, 1/10 s, R26.3, G1.9, B25.4

Alexei’s paintings portray the world around him in truthful and non-glorified terms. A sense of tranquility is conveyed in each of his paintings. They are typically without action or conviviality, and most are uncannily still, with only light, space, shadows and color offering dialog. The power and intensity of the relationship between light and dark are the profound forces of his work. The sophisticated application of light effects with color reinforces the majesty of his compositions. Butirskiy’s paintings are reminiscent of the works of Claude de Lorraine and Caravaggio with their luminescent qualities and skillful variations of light and dark.

Alexei describes, “When I paint, I don’t just copy from any particular place. I try to memorize the original impression I had when I was somewhere, and then I recompose it in my head, based on how I feel about it. After that, I paint. I think it is very important for an artist to not just copy mechanically from nature. In that case, the artist could be replaced by a camera… The source of my inspiration is life itself. I find peace and harmony all around me. I observe the beauty of my surroundings and love to share my appreciation of the world through my eyes and transfer it to my viewers by way of my canvas.”

Alexei is just 42 years old and has already achieved what many artists can only hope to achieve in an entire lifetime. His works are proudly exhibited in galleries and private collections throughout France, England, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, The Netherlands, Canada, Mexico, Russia and the United States.

In 2007 and 2011 Alexei was invited to exhibit his work at the II Vittoriano in the Piazza Venezia, Rome, Italy. He joins a prestigious group of artists including Picasso, Dali, Chagall, Monet, Manet and Degas who have exhibited here in the past. In 2013 his work was on display at yet another museum event at the Marietta Cobb Museum in Marietta, Georgia.

Artwork previews begin Thursday 12/8

Alexei Butirskiy will be in the gallery:
Friday, 12/9: 1 pm to 4 pm & 7 pm to 10 pm
Saturday, 12/10: 10 am to 2 pm and 7 pm to 10 pm

It is a privilege to have the opportunity to meet Alexei and also watch him work. He will be at Key West Gallery December 9-10, 2016. Salvador Dali: The Argillet Collection

09/05/2016 0 Comments
Key West Gallery, Key West’s most prestigious fine art gallery, is proud to announce its presentation of Salvador Dali: The Argillet Collection. The collection is on exhibition and available for acquisition at the gallery: previews begin on November 7.

The exhibition is a rare opportunity to meet Madame Christine Argillet, daughter of Dali’s legendary publisher and confidante Pierre Argillet, during three scheduled special appearances by Madame Argillet for the public: Friday, November 11 from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm and Saturday, November 12 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm. RSVP Required: 305-292-9339 or info@keywestgallery.com. Visit www.keywestgallery.com for more info.

Salvador Dali’s publisher, Pierre Argillet (1910-2001) and Dali enjoyed a collaboration and a friendship that spanned five decades; and produced what art historians have termed “the finest bodies of the Master’s Art”. This collection made available by the Argillet Estate is…truly… A privilege and an opportunity for the collector to own a prominent piece of Dali’s legacy.

Pierre Argillet’s body of Dali’s etchings, original works and books appear in museums throughout the world, and have enjoyed a home at the Museum of Surrealism in Melun, France (Pierre Argillet’s former home “Chateau Vaux-le-Penil” and former museum) as well as in the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. The collection is also housed at the prestigious Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Together, Argillet & Dali created remarkable editions of original prints, lived the life of a committed “Surrealist” and developed images that are highly-valued and prized by collectors today.

This exhibition and collection opportunity offers works from Dali’s Suites, including Mythologie, Les Hippies, Goethe’s Faust, and the incomparable Poemes Secrets d’Apollinaire. Madame Argillet has also graciously included the rare titles, Etchings and Watercolors from 1934 to the late 1960’s.

It has often been said by those in the art world that: “Salvador Dali was the creative genius….and Pierre Argillet was the publishing genius”
